TSIA Assessment (TSIA2)

​​TSIA2 measures readiness for college-level English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR) and Mathematics at Texas public colleges and universities.​

​​TSI Assessment Details​

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is a series of placement tests for students enrolling in public colleges and universities in Texas. The tests help Texas schools determine whether you’re ready for college-level courses in the areas of reading, writing, and math. The results of TSIA2, in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests, are used by academic advisers and counselors to place you in the appropriate courses that match your achievement level.

Before you can register to take TSIA2, you must participate in a mandatory (PAA). The institution where you plan to enroll is required to provide the , as well as to document your participation. 

Huntsville Campus

  • Remote Test Option: Request a .  
  • This option allows you to take the TSIA2 at home or at a local college/university near your home. 
  • In-Person Option: 
  • Report time: Report to the testing site at least 15-30 minutes before your scheduled testing time.  
  • Exam length: Untimed but can take approximately 4-6 hours. 
  • First attempt fee: $53.50  
  • Retest fee: 
  • 1 subject area: $18.50 
  • 2 subject areas: $33.50 
  • 3 subject areas: $53.50 
  • All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable 
  • Valid photo ID  (driver’s license, passport, state-issued ID, military ID, student ID, etc.) 
  • Valid secondary ID (employee ID, credit/debit card, secondary photo ID, etc.)  
  • Student ID  number 
  • After you complete your exam, your TSIA2 scores are immediately accessible by your academic advisor.  
  • TSIA2 scores can also be accessed in the . 

There is no required waiting period to retake the TSIA2. Students can retest at any time (pending availability of the Testing Center). 

  • The Testing Center must receive documentation of your accommodation at least two weeks in advance of your scheduled test date.
