SHREC Psychiatry RESIDENCY

The SHREC Psychiatry Residency Program is a four-year training program developed through the Sam Houston Regional Education Consortium (SHREC) in partnership with Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare and Huntsville Memorial Hospital (HMH). The program will welcome its inaugural class of four residents in July 2026 and is based in Conroe, Texas.

Designed to address the growing demand for psychiatrists across Texas, this program offers immersive, community-based training grounded in academic rigor and real-world patient care. Residents gain experience across outpatient, community behavioral health, and hospital-based settings while caring for patients across the full spectrum of psychiatric needs.

As a SHREC-sponsored program housed within the Â鶹´«Ã½AV College of Osteopathic Medicine, the residency is supported through educational oversight, curriculum development, faculty training, and academic resources.

Director's Welcome

Our mission is to train thoughtful, compassionate psychiatrists who are prepared to meet the growing behavioral health needs of Texas communities. This program was built with both patient care and physician well-being in mind. We emphasize evidence-based clinical practice, professionalism, collaboration, and long-term sustainability in medicine.

Residents train within a community-centered model of care while receiving strong academic support and close mentorship. Through our partnerships with Tri-County Behavioral Healthcare, Huntsville Memorial Hospital, and Â鶹´«Ã½AV-COM, residents experience the full continuum of psychiatric care in settings where the need is greatest.

We look forward to welcoming our inaugural class and growing a program that strengthens both the psychiatric workforce and the communities we serve.
